Place Vision (6 ec)

Learning outcome assignment: 'You can formulate a substantiated and coherent vision of the leisure landscape and its future'.

The public space plays an important role within the Leisure philosophy. Many social issues affect the quality of life of individuals, as well as the community as a whole. In order to be of value as a future leisure professional in this dynamic field, it is important to develop a vision on how we can be of value in the public space.

In the Place Vision assignment you will individually write an article about one of the following Placemaking-related topics:

- the community is the expert;
- multi-purpose places;
- boosting social connections;
- aesthetics and the visual appeal of the public realm;
- climate resilient cities;
- play & active recreation;
- green cities, healthy cities;
- walkable communities.

Since Placemaking is about connecting people and the place they share, we also ask you to connect with experts and/or users of the places you write about. Of course, source research also remains important.

You write the article in magazine style for our clients to inspire them about the value of Placemaking. We naturally expect your article to look visually attractive. At the end of the assignment we print the most inspiring articles in a real magazine

You can find out how the assignment is assessed in the rubric. You can also download the Dutch version of the rubric.

Below you can find a couple of interesting sources for the Placemaking-related topics. Please make use of the inspiration page for futher exploration of the topics.
